Latest Colorado Rockies Transactions (December)
Last updated December 22, 2025.
12/22/25 – The Colorado Rockies sign C/INF Jack O’Dowd to a Minor League Contract.
O’Dowd, 24, is the son of former Rockies GM, Dan O’Dowd. He will be the second son of O’Dowd (the former GM), to play in the Rockies organization as Chris O’Dowd spent 2013-2014 with Colorado. Jack O’Dowd played collegiality for both Vanderbilt and Texas. His numbers weren’t eye-catching; a .257/.330/.423 slash line along with 12 home runs in 139 games. After his college career ended he signed with the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League and had much better numbers. He slashed .333/.449/.642 with 22 home runs and 91 RBIs (which both broke Billings’ team records). O’Dowd will provide the Rockies lower level depth in 2026.
12/22/25 – The Colorado Rockies are retaining Ron Gideon, Andy González, and Jordan Pacheco on the MLB staff. All are in roles different from where they started in 2025. The 1st base coach role remains vacant.
Ron Gideon will become the assistant bench coach for the 2026 season. This is a newly created position.
Andy González will continue his role as the 3B coach and infield coach, which he took over in the middle of the 2025 season.
Jordan Pacheco remains the MLB assistant hitting coach. He shared the role with Nick Wilson last season when Bam Bam was relieved of his duties.
12/21/25 – The Colorado Rockies sign INF Vimael Machín to a Minor League contract. BSB Tweet.
Machín, 32, is a 116 game MLB veteran, dating back to 2020. From 2020-2022, the middle infielder played in 112 games for the Athletics. Accumulating a 65 wRC+ and a -0.9 fWAR in that span. Since then he has seen Minor League action with the Phillies and Orioles organizations. 2025 was his best offensive season in the Minors. He slashed .286/.347/.476, which resulted in a 118 wRC+, and even had an unexpected power-surge, finishing the season with 18 homers. Which helped him make the MLB for the first time since 2022. Machín currently (12/21/25) looks to be a contender for the Rockies opening day second base spot.
12/10/25 – The Colorado Rockies select RHP RJ Petit from the Detroit Tigers in the Major League phase of the Rule-5 Draft.
Petit, 26, was the most MLB-ready player in the Rule-5 Draft. He offers a mid-90s fastball, a low-80s slider, and an upper-80s changeup. Standing 6-foot-8, the big righty saw big results across Double-A and Triple-A last season. Boasting a strong 2.44 ERA along with a nearly 30% strikeout rate paired with a promising 8.2 BB%. Petit will have to stay on the 26-man roster for the duration of the 2026 season to stay with the Rockies, due to Rule-5 Draft rules. With the Rockies being amidst a rebuild it is very likely that he will stick around all season.
12/10/25 – The Colorado Rockies select RHP TJ Shook from the New York Mets in the Minor League phase of the Rule-5 Draft.
TJ Shook was one of many collegiate players left undrafted after the notorious 2020 MLB Draft where there were only five rounds. After the draft, he signed with the Milwaukee Brewers. There, he spent time between the rotation and bullpen and saw good strikeout results with inconsistent command. During the 2024 season, he was traded to the Mets for LHP Tyler Jay. Upon joining the Mets, Shook was transitioned to a full-time reliever and saw great results. He ended 2025 with a 2.41 ERA, a 26.4 K% and a 7.4 BB%. He has a five-pitch mix and works east/west. There is a possibility we see Shook in purple pinstripes in 2026.
12/10/25 – The Washington Nationals select RHP Brady Hill from the Colorado Rockies in the Minor League phase of the Rule-5 Draft.
Selected by the Rockies in the 15th Round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Brady Hill has been a reliable relief option in the lower levels of Minor League Baseball for the Rockies. Since being drafted in 2022, Hill has pitched in 103 games for the Fresno Grizzlies, far more than any other pitcher for the Grizzlies in that span. Hill has a career Minor League ERA of 5.54, and he is coming off of a season where he struck out 30% of batters. Now with the Nationals, the right-hander will look to keep climbing through the minors.
12/10/25 – The Pittsburgh Pirates select RHP Bryan Mena from the Colorado Rockies in the Minor League phase of the Rule-5 Draft.
The Rockies signed Mena out of the Dominican Republic in 2021, and since then he started 44 games while appearing in 77 total games. Accumulating a total of 282.1 IP, the 12th most in the Rockies organization since 2021. The now 21-year-old spent all of 2025 in Low-A, and compiled a steady 5.62 ERA and a 4.95 xFIP. With his youth and impressive durability, Mena is looking to improve his prowess as a starting pitcher prospect with the Pirates.
12/10/25 – The Detroit Tigers select RHP Luke Taggart from the Colorado Rockies in the Minor League phase of the Rule-5 Draft. Banter Session with Luke Taggart from 2022.
In 2021, the Rockies signed Taggart after going undrafted. After a short complex stint in 2021, he was immediately assigned to High-A upon the 2022 season. In Spokane, he quickly became a noteworthy prospect for the Rockies, while also becoming a friend of the pod (see above). He ended the season with a 2.53 ERA (third lowest on Spokane), and a nearly 34% strikeout rate (first on Spokane). Unfortunately, Taggart was held to just 29.2 innings pitched from 2023-2025 due to injuries. This off-season in the Puerto Rican Winter League, the 28-year-old has impressed with a 1.25 ERA across 21.2 IP. Taggart looks to have a strong bounce-back season in the Tigers organization.

Clifford appeared in seven Triple-A games, and performed great: he had a .333/.407/.417 slash line with eight hits. We wish Nolan all the best in his next chapter!
