Player Summary
Brief Summary
Roberto Salas, a 17-year-old Mexican right-hander made his professional debut next to Robinson Cano at the age of 16. The right-hander posted a 0.25 ERA featuring a high-80s fastball, mid-70s curveball and a changeup that sits in the low-80s. At only 157 pounds, Salas has room to add velocity and strength.
More detailed breakdown
In 2024 Salas made his professional debut for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League at just 16 years old; 14 years younger than league average. Sharing the field with 8x All Star Robinson Canó and 2020 NL Cy Young Trevor Bauer. The Rockies signed him that off-season.
So far in 2025 the Mexican Right-Hander is lighting up the DSL. Through 36.2 IP, Salas has only one earned run which is good enough for an unreal 0.25 ERA. He has three exciting offerings; a fastball that sits 88-90 MPH, a mid-70s curveball with good shape, and a tumbling low-80s changeup that drops down out of nowhere. Best of all he has almost-perfect command on all three pitches, having only walked 2.3% of batters he’s faced this year. Though he doesn’t throw very hard, he’s still only 17 and listed at 157 pounds, so expect to see a couple of ticks added to his fastball as he matures. Updated January 14, 2026.
