Player Summary
Brief Summary
Sandy Ozuna has remained under the radar since signing in 2023, largely due to limited innings, but his upside is evident. The right-hander already touches the upper-90s with his fastball, a pitch that shows explosive life and projects as a true weapon. He complements it with a plus mid-80s slider that misses bats and gives him a legitimate two-pitch foundation. Health and command refinement will determine how quickly he climbs the ladder. Ozuna has the raw stuff and ceiling to emerge as a legitimate top-30 prospect in the organization.
More detailed breakdown
2026 Write-up
Soon to turn 20 years old, Ozuna missed most of the 2025 season with an undisclosed injury, and his status for the start of 2026 is uncertain. However, when the young Dominican hurler is healthy, he’s one of the best young arms in the system. To this point, Ozuna only has 75.1 career innings with a 4.18 ERA and 83 strikeouts.
Headed by a mid-90s cut fastball, Ozuna can overpower hitters and has the projection to eventually get into the upper-90s with consistency. He backs it up with a quality mid-80s slider that misses bats. Ozuna’s development of a changeup and possibly another fastball shape will determine if he can push for a starting role through the minors or if he is slated for a relief role where his power two-pitch mix could excel.
2025 Write-up
Ozuna has largely flown under the radar as a Rockies prospect, in part because he has barely cracked the 70 innings mark in his career despite signing in 2023. Ozuna carries a pair of hellacious offerings with his fastball capable of getting into the upper-90s already, despite plenty of room to continue growing. Ozuna’s slider sits in the mid-80s and has plus characteristics.
Ozuna’s command and pitchability have been trending in the right direction when he’s been able to take the mound. If he can string together a season of good health, Ozuna could rise well into the Rockies top 30. Updated December 2025
