Player Summary
Brief Summary
Ulloa is a fast-rising Rockies relief prospect who went from JUCO to LSU to a 7th-round pick in 2024, then dominated the minors in 2025 with a 1.46 ERA and even better numbers after reaching High-A. Armed with a wipeout mid-80s slider and a mid-90s fastball, he projects as a late-inning option and could push toward the majors quickly if the performance holds.
More detailed breakdown
Ulloa spent 2 seasons at a California JUCO before transferring into LSU and serving as one of the team’s late-inning arms. Still, all it took was 23.1 innings at the NCAA level for the Rockies to make him their 7th-round choice in 2024. Since then, Ulloa has cemented his status as a relief prospect to follow. In 2025, Ulloa posted the 6th-best stateside ERA in all of minor league baseball (50+ IP) with a ridiculous 1.46 mark. In fact, Ulloa’s rate stats improved across the board after a promotion to High-A Spokane, with his ERA dropping to 1.06 and his strikeout and walk rates both improving.
Ulloa’s bread and butter is a mid-80s slider, capable of touching 88 with a tight shape. It has the makings of an MLB pitch and should get him to fly through the mid levels of the minors this season. Ulloa’s fastball can get into the upper-90s, though he more frequently sits 94-95 with otherwise pretty standard traits. Expect Ulloa to serve as a late-inning arm for Hartford to open the season with a chance to reach the big leagues if he continues his torrid 2025 pace.
