Brief Summary
Roldy Brito emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in the Rockies’ system in 2025. The 5-foot-11 “sparkplug” impressed in the Arizona Complex League, hitting .368 with a 1.000 OPS while finishing near the top of the league in triples and stolen bases despite being nearly two years younger than average. He stayed hot after a promotion to Low-A Fresno, leading the California League with a .375 average. A switch-hitting, versatile defender, Brito projects as a high-floor player with intriguing upside.
More detailed breakdown
Roldy Brito is one of the most fun and exciting young prospects in the Rockies system, after bursting onto the scene in 2025. A “sparkplug” type player, Brito stands only 5-foot-11, but brings incredible energy, swagger, and game-changing ability to the field.
Following a mostly unremarkable 2024 season in the Dominican Summer League, Brito sent shockwaves through the Arizona Complex League last year. As an 18 year old (almost 2 years younger than the league average) Brito finished 2nd in the league in both BA (.368) and OPS (1.000), amongst qualifying players. He also tied for the league lead in triples (6) and finished 3rd with 22 stolen bases.
He then proved his staying power by moving up a level with Low-A Fresno and not missing a beat. Roldy Brito led the entire California League with a .375 BA and finished 7th with a .905 OPS. He also continued to apply pressure on the basepaths with 13 swiped bags. Notably, he accomplished all that while being over 3 years younger than the league average player.
In addition to his energy and production, Brito also brings versatility to his game. A switch-hitter on offense who can lay down bunts as well as hit home runs, Brito also split time on defense last year between CF and 2B. While his smaller frame may limit his upside a bit, and his somewhat high caught stealing rate (29%) suggests some limit to his speed tool, Brito is trending toward a high-floor player who could at least be a valuable utility player off the bench. However, if he continues hitting and impacting the game the way he did last year, Brito could certainly become an impact starter at the major league level. Written by Cooper Hearne.
